The basic principles of an engineering company are the same as an architectural practice: time and costs are incurred against a time-based, fixed or percentage fee.
However, there are some subtle differences and PROJECTminder has been configured to allow these to be dealt with very easily (within the industry layer), ensuring you get a solution that addresses your specific needs.
Some of the key differences between architects and engineers are:
- Generally engineers work on a smaller percentage of the contract value (typically 1.5%)
- Projects follow stages but not always ACE or RIBA. Sometimes they are unique to the project
- Most calculations are done at charge-out rate not internal-rate
- There are many more “additional duties” in a typical engineering project than there are “variations” in an architectural one
